Peripheral Neuropathy is a condition that leads to weakness, numbness, and pain in the hands and feet. The severity can vary from mild discomfort to complete debilitation and sleep loss.
Common causes include:
Alcoholism
Chemotherapy
Diabetes
Trauma
Auto-immune diseases
Medications (Statins such as Lipitor)
Old Age / Idiopathic
Conventional treatments include physical therapy, dietary changes, pain-relieving drugs, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants. While these treatments do show some limited success, several of these solutions have negative side effects.
The good news is that both acupuncture and low-level laser and possibly red-light therapy can significantly reduce peripheral neuropathy.
Studies suggest that acupuncture’s effect of vasodilation will improve blood flow, while its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects provide huge benefits to improve comfort. (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5733739/)
Low-level laser therapy and red light not only reduce pain and decrease inflammation, but it is also proven to accelerate the repair of damaged nerves. (https://bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12877-019-1237-5#Sec20)
This one-two punch combination is a powerful solution to reverse peripheral neuropathy. At our clinic, we use a combination of proven acupuncture protocols, combined with the strongest low-level laser and red-light therapy devices available to treat this condition.
