Acupuncture improves stress, anxiety, and panic disorders.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the elections are almost here. For the past 6 months, the political ads, texts, online discussions, battles, misinformation, and confrontational vitriol have reached astronomical heights. For many people, this causes not just “concern” but high levels of stress, anxiety, and even panic!
A lucky few can effectively self-manage their stress and anxiety. Most, however, will struggle. The result is huge spikes of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. We all know the symptoms: elevated heart rates, shallow breathing, brain fog, OR hyper-awareness, but also symptoms like digestive disorders, insomnia, irritability, hypertension, muscle tension, decreased immune system, etc.
To put it simply, our brain interprets these triggers as “threats,” which then puts our bodies into a “threat response”.
The good news is that acupuncture can be incredibly effective in lowering stress and anxiety by lowering the perception of the threat. Several studies have proven that acupuncture can lead to remarkable decreases in the stress hormone cortisol. To learn more about acupuncture and stress reduction, click the link below!
