Cold Laser Therapy

Cold Laser Therapy Mechanisms:

LASER light, in the right wavelengths, penetrates into the body eliciting photochemical and photo-biological responses.  One of these effects takes place within the mitochondria; the organelle (part of the cell) responsible for making ATP. When light is absorbed it causes a build-up of individual oxygen molecules that accelerate the formation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the cells’ energy and fuel source, to 10 times the average rate. Increased ATP production leads to a secondary cascade or reactions: increasing immune response, accelerating the healing process, and reducing pain.

The result is a dramatic decrease in inflammation along with an improved healing speed of damaged skin, bone, muscle, ligament, nerves, and cartilage.

Our Apollo Laser is one of the strongest Class IIIB Lasers available that promises deep penetration and short treatment times.

Acupuncture

Traditional Acupuncture:

Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, ideal health is achieved by maintaining a “balanced-state” and that disease is due to an internal imbalance of yin and yang. This imbalance leads to a blockage or deficiency in the flow of Qi (vital energy) along internal pathways known as meridians.

These meridians can be influenced by needling the acupuncture points; the acupuncture needles unblock the obstruction and reestablish the regular flow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments can therefore help the body’s internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians.

Modern Acupuncture:

The modern scientific explanation is that needling the points stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, digestive system, spinal cord, and brain.  These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other substances and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system.  For example, numerous studies have proven how certain acupuncture points can directly affect levels of cortisol, b-endorphins, nor-epinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, white blood cells (CD3+, CD4+, T-lymphocytes, eosinophils, NK-Cells), anti-inflammatory compounds.  In other words, acupuncture can decrease swelling, increase immunity,  stop pain, improve mood, enhance digestion, and improve athletic endurance.

The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by modern acupuncture results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Cupping Therapy

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we say that cupping helps remove cold in the channels, moves stasis, and eliminates wind-cold condition.

In modern terms, cupping is used to promote blood circulation, reduce swelling and pain, help with gastrointestinal disorders, and treat lung diseases. In does this my lifting/pulling muscle tissue away from the skeletal structure. The most common application for cupping in the United States is along very tight muscles, such as those in the upper back and shoulders. Prolonged tension can lead to impeded blood circulation, restricted lymphatic flow, and pinched nerves leading down to the hands. Cupping is a great way to lift the tissue and release tension in this area, allowing proper blood and lymphatic circulation and the release of compacted nerves.
