Acupuncture Improves Shoulder Blade Pain

Updated: Feb 8

When people say they have shoulder pain, it can mean many different things. Today we're talking about that specific pain JUST under the shoulder blade. It can radiate up to your neck or down the length of your back. Some describe it as feeling like an ice-pick being stabbed just under your shoulder blade. In some cases, it can lead to constriction of the brachial plexus which is that cluster of nerves on the side of the neck that ultimately travel down the arm and fingers. Damage or dysfunction of these nerves can lead to tingling, pain, or numbness in your hands.

How do you stretch or help this area? A rigorous series of treatments using a combination of acupuncture, cupping therapy, and cold laser therapy can significantly improve the pain and restore feeling back into the hands. The combination of tools decreases pain, decreases inflammation, and speeds up the repair of damaged tissues. This specific condition is very common and comprises about 20 percent of my patient list. Whether the underlying cause of this pain is a herniated disc, turned rib, or strained ligament, our treatments can (at the very least), reduce the body's spasm and pain response and allow you to get on with your day!
